Planting with Purpose: A Community Connection
Maxwell Street Community Garden is proud to partner with One Family Illinois, a nonprofit dedicated to helping children in foster care heal and thrive through supportive, community-based homes where siblings are kept together. Located just across the street from Maxwell Street Garden, the Tim McCormick Community Center is integral to the Roosevelt Square Community.

Maxwell Garden serves as a natural extension of One Family’s mission.
One Family Illinois advances the safety and well-being of children by keeping siblings together in foster care, empowering youth, nurturing strong families, and partnering in the development of communities.
One Family Illinois aspires to provide every child a bright future with a forever home that thrives in a connected community.
Maxwell Garden regularly hosts events that bring together One Family foster parents/families and the broader neighborhood, and we’re honored to provide fresh produce for cooking demonstrations and family programming held in the Tim McCormick Community Center's state-of-the-art Goya Learning Kitchen.
Together, we’re cultivating a stronger, healthier community—rooted in care, connection, and shared purpose.
